About Our Riding
The NS East PPC Regional Association was constructed by the People's Party of Canada when it was identified that many Electoral District Associations (EDA) were struggling to be efficient and successful during the 2019 election. It was obvious that the cookie cutter model that works so well for the establishment parties was not well suited for ours. We are doing politics differently. In the year end newsletter to members on December 1, 2020, the new EDA Amalgamation Plan was announced with the following mandate:
The concept of this plan would be to amalgamate EDAs in areas where riding density is high enough in order to cut down on Elections Canada filing requirements and more efficiently use our limited personnel. We would unite experienced/dedicated volunteers to allow them to work together actively as a team as opposed to independently in their individual ridings. These changes will make our organization nimbler and more efficient while allowing our personnel to better focus on the things that matter, promoting the party, expanding local membership, selecting an excellent candidate, and raising funds for the next election
In February of 2021, the Provincial Coordinator hosted the Annual General Meeting (AGM), introducing members to the new Nova Scotia East Regional Association & amalgamating the ridings of Sydney-Victoria, Cape Breton-Canso and Central Nova. At this AGM there were 3 members in attendance, 2 from Central Nova and 1 from Sydney-Victoria. At our AGM in 2022, we had over 30 members in attendance with all 3 ridings having been represented. AGM attendance and membership has tripled in just one year!
